Best VR games for beginners in 2023 without needing room-scale setup in small apartm

So I finally caved and bought a Quest 2 off a friend for cheap, thinking I could finally get into this whole VR thing without a ton of hassle. I have a small apartment so I knew room-scale was out, but I figured seated stuff would be fine. Just trying to find the best VR games for beginners in 2023 that don't require me to knock over my coffee table or throw my controller through the TV.

I started with Beat Saber because everyone says it's the entry point, and honestly I just got frustrated. I could barely hit the blocks on normal difficulty without flailing, and after an hour my glasses were fogged up and I had a headache. Maybe I set the height wrong or didn't stand far enough back. Then I tried Moss, which seemed safer since you're just looking down at a little mouse, but the tracking kept losing my controller when I rested my hands on my lap. It's a known Quest 2 issue with the ring placement, or so I read, but I didn't expect it to break immersion that badly. Could be user error on my part, but I spent more time recalibrating than actually playing.

Did you find that spending extra on a better head strap or getting prescription lens inserts made a bigger difference for comfort than the game itself? Or was there a point where you just scrapped the whole seated approach and rearranged your entire living room just to get a proper playspace?

Yeah, I struggled with Beat Saber too at first. Once you get used to the rhythm though, it becomes much easier. I recommend trying the 360-degree settings for better fun. Just be careful with the space around you, lol.

Honestly, I think seated VR can be a pain with tracking issues. I rearranged my living room for space to stand up and it made a world of difference. Just be prepared to move things around!

About the head strap, I bought the Elite strap and it was a game-changer for comfort. My eyes felt way less strained after long sessions. Got my prescription inserts too, and they really helped!

I disagree with the whole 'standing only' mentality. It should absolutely be fun sitting down too, you just need to find the right games. Try something slower-paced like 'The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners'—perfect for beginners!

I had the same challenge with Moss! I found putting a blanket over my lap helped hold the controllers in place. It sounds silly, but it totally worked for me. Just an idea!

Honestly, seated VR is kind of limiting. If you end up loving it, you might want to invest in a better setup, but right now, look for games that explicitly cater to seated gameplay, like 'Job Simulator'. Just my two cents.
