Could left-hand motor lapses be signs of focal seizures?
#1
I’ve been having these episodes where my left hand just stops responding for maybe thirty seconds, like it’s not even part of my body. My neurologist mentioned it could be a type of focal aware seizure, but the MRI was clear. Has anyone else experienced this kind of isolated motor lapse without any other seizure symptoms?

I've had something like that a couple of times. My left hand would go almost limp for about half a minute, then snap back and I felt a bit disconnected from it. It happened mostly when I was tired or stressed, and the MRI stuff they did came back normal.

I started tracking it: date and time, what I ate, how I slept, caffeine, and what I was doing before it happened. It showed up a few times after long computer days or right after workouts, but not in a clean pattern. It didn’t change what my doctors did, but at least I had notes to show.

Has anyone else noticed a warning aura or anything obvious before it goes out? For me it sometimes starts with a tiny tremor in the fingers and then the whole hand goes quiet; a doc mentioned it could be a seizure, which made me unsure how to read it.

I also tried changing the desk setup and taking more breaks; a coworker swore it was just bad posture, but I didn’t get consistent relief. It’s frustrating because it feels personal and small at the same time.
