Effective digital marketing strategies for small businesses with $300 budget
#1
I run a small boutique bakery in a mid-sized city, and after years of relying on word-of-mouth, I’ve realized I need to step into the digital world to keep up with newer shops opening nearby. I’m on a tight budget of about $300 per month for marketing, and my main constraint is time—I bake everything myself, so I can only squeeze in a few hours a week for promotion. I’m looking for effective digital marketing strategies for small businesses that can actually bring in local customers without a huge upfront investment.

So far, I’ve tried running a Facebook ad campaign that cost me $150 over two weeks, which got a decent number of clicks but only two orders that I could directly trace back to it—maybe it was my targeting, or maybe the ad itself was just boring. I also set up an Instagram account and posted daily for a month, but I only gained about 40 followers, mostly friends and family, so that felt like spinning my wheels. I also briefly tried a local coupon site that charged $50 for a month-long feature, which brought in a few new faces but not enough repeat business to justify the cost.

Given my limited time and budget, what single digital channel or tactic would you recommend I focus on first to get the most bang for my buck, and how can I measure if it’s actually working after the first month?
