How can I boost deep sleep and improve my sleep cycle?
#1
I’ve been tracking my sleep for a while and noticed my deep sleep percentage is consistently low, even when I get a full eight hours. I feel like I’m missing out on that truly restorative sleep phase, and I wake up feeling just as drained. Has anyone else managed to improve this specific part of their sleep cycle?

I kept a strict bedtime and cut caffeine after lunch for a month, and the deep sleep percentage bumped a little, but not by much and I still woke up groggy sometimes.

I started worrying about the metric too and it stressed me out more, so I stopped checking it every morning and focused on consistency.

Cooling the room to around 65 degrees and running a fan helped me sleep more calmly, and I felt clearer when I woke, even if the tracker didn't show a huge jump.

I tried exercising late and it made things worse for me; afternoon walks during the day helped with sleep pressure and mornings felt a bit better.

Do you use a sleep tracker that differentiates stages well, or could the tracker be misreporting?

I stopped chasing the percentage and started keeping a simple routine: dim lights an hour before bed, no screens after, and alcohol only on rare occasions.

I once found that stress from work bled into the night; after journaling and a short wind-down routine, I noticed those nights felt a bit more restful, even if the numbers didn't move.
