I’m trying to run a small art giveaway for my followers, but I’m stuck on how to pick a winner fairly. I’ve seen people use random comment pickers, but I’m worried that might not seem transparent enough to the people who enter.

I did a live draw once. I told everyone the rules clearly: one entry per person, comments must be public, and you’re following the account. I exported the unique comments, used a browser RNG, and drew on camera. People watched as the number matched a comment and we announced the winner right after.

I kept it simple: assign each unique commenter a number, then roll a dice or use a random number generator on camera to pick the winner. If you show the steps, it feels more transparent even to skeptical folks.

Another run I tried was with a no-tool approach—asking for a specific emoji and keyword. It drifted into drama in the comments, people arguing about what counted, so I ended up scrapping it and went back to a clean list and a timer.
