How can I create a cohesive color hierarchy across client decks?
#1
I’ve been trying to create a more cohesive look across my client presentation decks, but my use of color feels off. I keep picking palettes that look good in the layouts individually, but when you flip through the whole PDF, the overall visual flow is jarring instead of harmonious. I’m wondering if I need a stricter system for my color hierarchy.

Yep, I hit that too. I started with one branding hue, two supporting tones, and an accent. Keeping to those roles and using the same contrast rules made the deck feel steadier.

That color hierarchy idea really helped me once: primary for headers, secondary for charts, background kept neutral. It wasn't magic though; I still had to prune slides that tried to be too flashy.

I tried a quick style guide with a 4-6 hue set and a few rules, but flipping through the slides still felt off. Maybe the issue isn't the palette but how images sit on the page, font scales, or transitions.

Sometimes I drifted into thinking maybe the deck needs better margins or wider gutters, but then I backtracked to grids and the palette again. Do you think the real problem is the imagery and layout choices, or the hues themselves?
