How can i deal with group chat fatigue and notification overload?
#1
I’ve noticed I’m starting to feel drained after every group chat session, even with friends. The constant pinging and pressure to keep up with multiple conversations leaves me wanting to just turn off notifications for a week, but then I worry I’ll seem rude or out of the loop.

I hear you. I started muting group chat notifications after 9 pm for a while. It felt weird at first, like I was ghosting, but the mornings were calmer and I slept better. I still checked in once or twice a day, not missing anything crucial.

I tried telling a couple of friends that I won’t reply instantly and I’ll be slower about reading threads. People were cool about it, and the drain dropped a bit. It doesn’t fix the itch to be in the loop, but it helps my energy.

Do you think the pressure to respond quickly is the real issue, or is it that you just don’t want to miss something funny?

I wandered a bit, thinking maybe the problem isn’t the chats at all but how we expect constant availability. I set a daily check window and then I walk away. Sometimes I still worry I’m missing stuff, and that worry never fully goes away.
