How can i get more volunteers for a casual neighborhood cleanup?
#1
I’m trying to organize a small, casual cleanup for the overgrown stretch of Willow Creek behind my neighborhood, but I’m honestly stuck on how to get a few more hands without it feeling like a big formal commitment. I’ve posted in our neighborhood Facebook group, but the response has been pretty quiet so far.

Tried a tiny ask with a chalk sign at the mailbox and a quick post in the group. I suggested a one hour window on Saturday. Two neighbors showed up, we trimmed a neat 50 meter patch and hauled away a couple bags. It felt doable without turning into a big event.

I texted three folks I know who walk that stretch every week, offered coffee after and to bring gloves. It helped a bit. Still quiet in the group, maybe people just need a personal nudge.

Are we sure the problem is the outreach and not the timing or trust? I keep thinking maybe people need a monthly tiny crew rather than a big one off.

I drifted off talking about a park path and nearly lost the thread, then we kept it to simple supplies and a bench to drop bags. It helped cut the barrier to showing up, even if it was just a couple folks.
