How can I get neighbors to join a casual board game night?
#1
I’m trying to organize a casual board game night for my apartment building, but I’m hitting a wall on how to actually get people to come. I put up a flyer in the lobby and posted in our building’s group chat, but only two neighbors have said they’re interested. Has anyone had luck with a different approach to get a local event off the ground?

I taped invitation cards on every door on our floor and texted a quick reminder a day before. We started with two interested neighbors, and we wound up with five showing up after I followed up in person a couple of times.

I did a quick poll in the group chat about what time works and which games people own, then picked a date with the most votes and asked folks to bring a game if they had one. Only two RSVP'd, so I kept it informal and left a sign-up for future weeks.

I tried a 'bring your own snack' vibe, left a few simple rules on the table, and told folks it was casual. It felt warm, but no extra people showed up, so I didn't push that exact format again right away.

Do you think timing is the real blocker here, or is there something about the flyer that puts people off?
