How can i get past a journaling rut and rekindle daily writing?
#1
I’ve been keeping a daily journal for years, but lately I feel like I’m just writing the same things over and over. It’s become a chore instead of something I look forward to, and I’m not sure what I’m even getting from it anymore. Has anyone else hit this wall with their own record-keeping?

Yep, I hit that wall too. I kept chasing ‘real’ entries and ended up writing the same mood cycles over and over. Opening the notebook started to feel like a chore.

I tried a low stakes format—three lines max, maybe a single image, and a tiny note about one thing I learned that day. After a couple weeks it felt lighter, not like homework.

Maybe the real problem isn’t the pages but what I’m hoping from them. Am I trying to prove something to myself, or just avoiding other tasks?

I also flirted with switching mediums for a while—voice notes, doodles, quick lists—anything to break the ritual. Sometimes it stuck, sometimes it didn’t, but it did loosen the grip a bit.
