How can I get rid of dandelions without harming the lawn?
#1
I’ve been trying to get rid of the dandelions taking over my lawn, but every method I try seems to make them spread even more. I’ve tried pulling them, but if I don’t get every bit of the taproot they just come back stronger, and using a vinegar spray seemed to just kill the grass around them.

Yeah I know that feeling I pulled one and the whole root snapped and the thing shot back up a week later. I used a hand weeder and pretended it would work but it kept spreading. I even started keeping notes on where they came back fastest and then got distracted by the mower noises outside.

Vinegar spray burned the leaves and brown spots showed up around the patch and the grass looked worse for days. I ended up spraying a lot more area just to see if it would stop it and it did not.

Could the real problem be the soil or the shade in that spot?

I tried mowing higher and it did not get rid of them but it made the lawn look healthier for a while and then they came back in the thin patches.
