How can i make logo typography pop against a busy background without a stroke?

I’ve been working on a logo where the client wants the type to really pop against a detailed background, but my usual method of just adding a stroke feels clumsy. How do you handle making text stand out without it looking like a tacky afterthought? I’m experimenting with a very subtle outer glow to create separation.

I tried a soft outer glow on light text over a busy background and kept it very subtle. It helped separation without looking like a sticker. I used a light color and a low opacity around 8 to 12 percent.

Glows can look tacky if used as a fix all. I experimented with a faint radius blur instead of a glow. It gave a soft halo without shouting for attention.

I am not totally sure this is the real issue but I tried bigger letter spacing and a dark layer behind the type to push it forward. It made the text feel a touch more dominant, but not always legible.

I had a logo with heavy texture in the background and did test prints. The glow behaved differently on paper than on screen then I looked at the color palette and the negative space.

Maybe try a lighter weight and a pale shadow behind the letters instead of a full glow. Keeping the shadow tight started to feel cleaner after a few rounds.

Do you think the real problem is the background pattern making the type hard to read and not the type itself?
