How can i move camping gear from city to trailhead by public transport?

I’m trying to plan a trip where we’d spend a few days in a major city and then head straight to a remote national park. I’m stuck on the practical side of getting all our camping gear from the urban hotel to the trailhead without a car. Has anyone managed a similar city-to-wilderness transition using only public transport?

Yeah I did it once using public transport from the city to the park town and then a shuttle to the trailhead. We carried light packs and used a rolling duffel to keep the gear compact. The city hotel let us stash a heavy sweater and stove in a locker for the day of departure, and we booked the trailhead shuttle a day before we left. It was nerve wracking at first but it worked and we saved a car rental.

Are you sure the real problem is the gear move or is the bigger issue the schedules and bus connections?

I tried this once with a friend and the last mile from the bus stop to the trail head was a slog and we ran out of daylight. The hotel could store gear but our stove took too long to reach the trail and we started late. We pitched near the lodge instead of real backcountry.

Not me I have not done it yet but I keep thinking the gear I can carry with a bus pass is small. Maybe sending the heavier items ahead by courier would help but that adds cost.
