How can I pray the Liturgy of the Hours with more heart daily?
#1
I've been trying to pray the Liturgy of the Hours more consistently, but I keep getting tripped up by the feeling that I'm just reciting words on a page without my heart being in it. Has anyone else struggled with making this daily rhythm feel like a genuine conversation rather than a task to check off?

I’ve been there too. I started keeping a tiny notebook and would write one line that actually spoke to me in the hour. It sounds small, but choosing that line to carry through the day keeps it from sliding into a checkoff list.

Some mornings I just mouth the words while my mind wanders. Then I tried pausing for a slow breath before each response, like a border between thinking and praying.

Another angle: maybe the problem isn’t the hours, but the setup. I moved to a quiet corner, turned off alerts, and tried to read aloud softly in a cadence that matches my breath. It helped me feel present, not perfect.

I’m not sure I’ll ever crack it cleanly. Sometimes I’m convinced it’s a failure, other times I’ll stumble into a moment that feels true, then it fades. Either way I keep showing up and that’s messy but real.
