How can I prevent curling edges when wet blocking a lace shawl?
#1
I’ve been trying to get the hang of wet blocking my finished lace shawl, but I can’t seem to get the points along the edge to stay sharp after it dries. They keep curling back or look a bit rounded no matter how many pins I use.

I have had that same edge curl. I found blocking wires along the border helped the points stay sharp while it dried. Pins alone did not keep the line.

Sometimes I wonder if the yarn fiber content matters. I used a soft merino and after washing it relaxed more than I expected. Maybe the point crispness comes from the stitch and the tension during blocking.

Could the real problem be that the edge was stretched too much during blocking and the points never set after drying?

I tried a spray of starch and left it longer to dry but the points still drifted Not sure if I am chasing the right thing
