How can i reduce hud distraction and calibrate my car's head-up display?

I just got a new car with a fancy head-up display, but I’m finding the constant stream of info on the windshield more distracting than helpful. Has anyone else felt this way after the initial novelty wore off? I’m wondering if I should just turn most of the projections off and only use it for speed, or if there’s a better way to calibrate it so it feels less intrusive.

Yeah, the novelty wore off for me, too. I ended up turning off most of the projections and kept it only for speed. I also dimmed the brightness and nudged the display lower in my line of sight so my eyes don’t keep jumping.

I tinkered with calibration by lowering the projection, shrinking the font, and easing off the nav overlays. It helped a bit, but I still felt distracted if I looked at it for more than a few seconds.

Sometimes I think maybe the whole thing is not the problem, maybe the cabin lighting and glare are making it feel redundant. I tried ignoring it and focusing on the road, but then I wonder if I’m missing important info.

Did you try moving it lower or higher?
