How can I remove a shadow profile and data from a social app I deleted?
#1
I’ve been trying to clean up my old accounts and realized a social media app I deleted years ago still has a shadow profile with my contacts and data. I’m not sure how to even begin requesting its full removal since I can’t log in anymore. Has anyone else dealt with something like this?

I’ve been there. Deleted an app years ago and found a shadow profile still showing up in my contacts. I reached out to the company’s privacy team and filed a full data deletion request since I couldn’t log in. They asked for proof of identity and it dragged on for a while, but they kept the thread open.

One thing I learned is that sometimes things stay because of cached copies or data that others still have. I checked the app’s data policy but a lot of it felt white noise. If you can’t log in, explaining that and asking for a data export or deletion in writing helped a bit.

I tried a quick track too and it didn’t go smoothly. They kept asking for access I didn’t have, and I wasn’t sure what else to give. I ended up stopping the attempt because it felt like a rabbit hole.

Do you think the problem is really the shadow profile, or is there another layer like contacts still on other people’s devices that keeps showing you up? I’m not sure if that’s the real headache here.
