How can i talk to my family about our carbon footprint without causing a fight?

I’m trying to figure out how to talk to my family about our household’s carbon footprint without it turning into another argument. We had a big fight last year when I suggested we cut down on air travel, and now I’m hesitant to bring up things like our gas car or the energy our old appliances use. I just feel stuck between wanting to make a real difference and keeping the peace at home.
