I just finished the Chimera Ant arc in Hunter x Hunter and I’m honestly feeling a bit drained by the sheer moral complexity of Meruem’s character. I went in expecting a straightforward villain but found myself weirdly sympathetic by the end, which has left me conflicted about the whole experience. Has anyone else felt this kind of narrative whiplash from an antagonist’s development?
