How do i evaluate a Vietnam dropship supplier for my home goods store?
#1
I’m trying to decide if it’s worth the effort to set up a dropshipping arrangement with a new supplier in Vietnam for my home goods store. The pricing is fantastic, but I’m worried about the longer shipping times and how that might affect my customer reviews and repeat business.

I tried something similar last quarter. The Vietnam supplier had killer prices but the shipping to the US turned out to be around 12 to 18 days. A handful of reviews mentioned slow delivery which nudged our overall rating down a notch. We changed the product pages to spell out lead times and offered two options with different speeds plus clear pricing. The price advantage did not automatically win back the late deliveries but it was not a total disaster either.

I did a mini pilot of about 60 orders to test it. Average order value was fine but early reviews dropped when deliveries stretched past two weeks. After we added proactive order updates tracking emails and a clear explanation of delays the rating settled back up and repeat orders ticked a bit higher once stock levels steadied.

Do your customers care more about the origin or about getting it on time with updates? I keep going back and forth on whether the drama about where it ships from is worth it if you can deliver reliably.

I got distracted by packaging ideas and influencer unbox videos then kept circling back to the same thing speed and reliability. We tried a few shipments with tracking and a simple return flow but nothing felt decisive yet. Maybe the real issue is not the supplier location but how we set expectations.
