How do i fix a car registration suspended after paying my insurance?
#1
I just got a letter saying my vehicle registration is suspended because my insurance lapsed, but I’m positive I paid the premium on time. Has anyone else had this happen with an electronic proof of insurance filing? I’m not sure if the state’s database didn’t update or if my insurer made an error.

I ran into something similar last year. I paid on time but the notice still showed up. I learned the state system can lag, especially when they run updates in batch mode. A few days later the status changed on my portal after I asked for a review.

I called the carrier and asked them to refile the proof. They said they sent it and gave me a confirmation email, which I saved. I still saw the hold until I got a second proof.

Could the real problem be a mismatch of the vehicle or policy number in the filing?

I’m not sure which part is broken, the portal, the database, or the paperwork in the back room. I kept checking the online status every day and nothing changed until someone explicitly rechecked it.
