How do I install a cabin air filter that seats properly in the glovebox?
#1
I just tried to replace my own cabin air filter and I’m not sure I got the right one. The old filter was really dirty and crumbling, but the new one doesn’t seem to want to seat properly in the housing behind the glovebox. It feels like it’s catching on something. Has anyone else had this happen with their car?

Mine did the same right after I swapped it in. The new one wouldn’t sit flush and kept catching on something in the housing behind the glovebox. I pulled it out, double checked the part number, and swapped to the exact replacement—the new fit finally seated, but it still felt loose until I pressed it in with the panel back.

I asked a friend and he said there are tiny plastic clips that get bent or misaligned. I checked and one clip was off; bending it back let the filter drop into place and sit flat.

Could be the frame is damaged or the gasket got folded. I noticed a small crease in mine that made it sit high and not seat evenly.

Do you know if you have the right orientation front to back, or did you notice any different tab on the new one that might indicate a wrong side?
