How do i keep my tone clear in big group chats?
#1
I’ve noticed that when I’m texting with a few friends in a group chat, my tone and jokes come across fine, but the moment the conversation expands to a larger server or channel, I start second-guessing every single message before I hit send. It’s like my sense of the shared context completely evaporates and I’m just left anxious about being misunderstood.

Yeah, that bigger-group energy feels different. In a small chat I can riff, but once a server widens, I start editing every sentence like a post on a wall. I’ve watched my messages get longer and more careful and I hate that it slows me down.

I tried typing things out in a draft first, then sending a trimmed version, and sometimes just sending the rough thing and muting notifications for a bit. It helps sometimes, but not consistently.

Maybe it's not the problem at all and it's just the fear you’ll be misread no matter what, or maybe the joke lands differently in a big room. Is the problem really the vibe of the channel, or something else?

One time I skipped a thread entirely because I overthought it, and then realized nothing was chasing me; the anxiety stuck around longer than the reply did. The space just made the pressure feel louder.
