How do you spot the hidden object in puzzle pictures without going cross-eyed?

I’ve been trying to get better at spotting the hidden object in those online puzzle pictures, but I keep getting stuck on one where I swear I’ve scanned every inch and still can’t find the tiny key. Does anyone else just stare until your eyes go blurry and you start doubting it’s even there?

I know that one well. I’ve stared until my eyes go blurry and still can’t tell if the tiny key is actually there.

I’ve tried a few crude tricks: zooming way in, flipping the image, and cranking up contrast. Sometimes I think I saw a tiny shape near the bottom edge, but it might’ve been glare.

Maybe the problem isn’t the image. Maybe I’m chasing the feeling of a trick rather than an actual object.

One friend suggested stepping away for a bit and coming back with fresh eyes. It helped a couple times, but not always.
