How long does it take to feel a difference after antidepressant dose adjustment?
#1
I’ve been on the same dose of my antidepressant for about a year, but lately I feel like it’s just not working like it used to. My doctor mentioned the possibility of a dosage adjustment, but I’m worried about side effects coming back or feeling worse before it levels out. Has anyone else gone through this kind of change and noticed how long it took to feel a difference?

I’ve been there. After a year on the same dose, my doc raised it by a small amount. It took about three to four weeks before I felt any uptick, and another couple weeks to feel steadier. Side effects came back briefly—more vivid dreams and a little nausea for a week or two—then things settled.

I tried a dose bump, felt jittery for five days, then nothing changed. I ended up going back to the old dose and felt a little defeated. Not sure if it was worth the move.

Maybe the issue isn’t the dose. For me, sleep and daily routine mattered a lot more than I expected. Even on a higher dose, bad sleep made me feel flat. Have you noticed changes in sleep or stress that line up with this?

I kept a simple mood log for a month, logged energy, sleep, and mood, and shared it with my doctor. After three weeks there wasn’t a clear win, so we slowed down and kept an eye on symptoms. It felt like a process more than a switch.
