How much can lifestyle changes lower blood pressure without meds?
#1
I’ve been told my blood pressure is a bit high at my last two check-ups, around 145/90, and my doctor mentioned starting medication. I’m just wondering if others have been able to bring similar numbers down through lifestyle changes alone, or if that initial reading really means you’re on the path to needing pills.

I had around 145/90 a couple of times last year. I started walking 30 minutes most days, cut down salt, trimmed a few pounds, and tried to relax more. After three to four months my numbers were closer to 130/82. Still not perfect, but it felt doable.

The doctor warned it could be meds, and I finally started a low dose after a couple of months because the readings kept creeping up. The first week it was oddly steadier, and I felt a lot calmer knowing there was a plan.

I started checking at home too, since two visits can be misleading. Some days were high and some days low, depending on caffeine, sleep, and stress. It makes you question whether lifestyle alone can fix it.

Maybe the real problem isn't the numbers but sleep quality and mood lately; when I fixed sleep and cut caffeine later in the day, the spikes dropped a bit. Still not a clean fix, just a nudge.
