How much is predictive text shaping my messages' tone?
#1
I’ve noticed my phone’s predictive text keeps suggesting words that are subtly more negative or urgent than what I was going to type, and it’s starting to change the tone of my messages without me realizing it until I hit send. I’m wondering if anyone else has felt their own communication style being shaped by these algorithmic nudges.

I’ve noticed the same thing for a while. It’s like the phone leans toward harsher or more urgent phrasing even when I’m not feeling it. I tried turning off predictive text for a couple of days and that kept the vibe more neutral, but I kept slipping back when I was in a hurry.

One time I typed ‘cool, see you soon’ and the suggestion came out as ‘ok we need to talk now’ which felt off. I retyped real quick and still caught the shift a couple of times before sending.

Is the real issue that we read tone into every sentence, while the device nudges the vibe, or is the device actually shaping how we feel about messages?

I kept a tiny log for a week: messages with the nudges felt quicker, but I often retyped to soften urgency after sending. Not sure what that means, maybe a habit forming on autopilot.
