How should I interpret a chronic sore throat after an ENT consult?
#1
I’ve had this persistent, low-grade sore throat for about three months now, and my doctor can’t find any infection or obvious cause like reflux. It’s just always there, a raw feeling that makes swallowing uncomfortable, and I’m starting to worry it’s something more serious in my throat itself. Has anyone else dealt with a chronic sore throat that turned out to be something an ENT specialist diagnosed?

I went through something similar for about a year. No infection showed up, no obvious reflux on tests, and the throat always felt raw and sore when I swallowed. Eventually a specialist suggested throat irritation from reflux and a short course of meds plus some lifestyle tweaks; it helped a bit, but the sore edge never fully disappeared.

For me it turned out to be allergies driving post nasal drip that irritated the throat. Antihistamines and a humidifier helped, and cutting down on dusty rooms made a difference.

Sometimes I wonder if it's just dryness from the office AC or me talking too much; when the room is dry and loud I notice it more. I tried more water, a humidifier, and taking breaks, but the feeling lingered anyway.

Not sure this is the real problem, but I did see a throat specialist who did a scope and found nothing alarming, which left me swinging between possibilities and unsure what to try next.
