How should I practice for ranked when the agent pool meta shifts after patches?

I’ve been trying to get better at my agent pool for ranked, but I feel completely lost when the meta shifts after a major tournament patch. How do you even decide what’s worth practicing when the tier lists and pro comps change so fast?

Ive chased a moving meta too. After a patch drops I pick 2 or 3 flexible agents that can fit different comps and stick with them for a couple of weeks. I keep a tiny log about what I played, the teams I faced, my win rate and what felt off. The big thing I learned is that changes swing pick rates hard but the win rate moves slower. I was chasing hot picks instead of understanding what I actually do well under pressure. I also saved a handful of games to review later and noted timing and rotations.

Is the real problem the patch or something else?

I tried to chase the new tier list by playing a bunch of new picks in casual until I ran out of time. The play times got messy and I ended up losing some confidence in my comfort picks. My win rate on the new stuff hovered around 48 percent for a couple of weeks. The old confidence faded. I ended up stopping and went back to basics for a while even if it meant abandoning the rush to adapt.

Sometimes I drift during a session and zone out for a minute then snap back and swear I will fix a few micro decisions next game. I will rearrange the desk or pour a second cup of coffee and then realize I am chasing flow instead of actually reviewing the carry moments. I do keep a tiny notebook with one takeaway per game but I am not sure it sticks long enough to matter.
