How should we interpret the final shot, hopeful or tragic?

I just finished watching the movie and I’m still turning over that final shot in my head. What do you all think was really happening with the character in those last moments? I can’t decide if it was meant to be hopeful or a complete tragedy.

I felt the last shot edged toward hopeful, like the character might be stepping into something unspoken, a light or a chance, even if the world stayed quiet around them.

I read it as tragic but earned, because the silence after the move says there’s no going back, and the camera lingers on the door.

Is the real problem here the ending or is the whole setup just making us chase a feeling we want more than a fact?

I started thinking about the soundtrack and then the look on their face, then reminded myself I wasn’t sure what we were supposed to feel, which kinda fits the ending.
