How to balance wide-leg trousers with tops for a flattering silhouette?
#1
I just bought a pair of wide-leg trousers that I love, but I’m really struggling to find tops that balance the silhouette without making me look shapeless. Everything I try either gets lost in the volume or looks awkwardly tucked. What’s the secret to getting this proportion right?

I hear you. I’ve had days when a slim tucked top did more for the shape than a loose blouse, and suddenly the wide legs felt anchored instead of floating.

Sometimes I swear the issue isn’t the top at all but the fabric and rise of the pants. I once bought a pair with a softer drape and whatever I paired with it just swam around my hips.

I tried a structured shoulder blouse with a belt once and it helped a bit, then I started thinking maybe a scarf could act as a pseudo belt—fiddly, and the balance kept shifting.

Do you think the issue is the overall proportion more than the top shape itself?
