Should i buy the ps5 upgrade or the ps4 version for this game?

I just got a PS5 and I'm trying to decide which version of a game to buy when it's available on both PS4 and PS5. The upgrade path isn't always clear, and sometimes it feels like I'm paying extra just for a slight resolution bump. How do you guys usually figure out if the current-gen version is actually worth it?

I usually price the upgrade against what I expect to gain—load times, frame rate, textures. If the PS5 version actually feels different in motion, I’ll pay a little more.

Last year I grabbed the PS5 version for a game I played on PS4, and the gains were mostly resolution bumps and a couple of fixes. It wasn’t a night and day shift.

Does 4K or 60fps actually matter to you, or is the same story good enough once you’re playing?

I sometimes queue up a quick comparison video and note load times, frame rate, and HDR; if the numbers line up with what I felt, I pull the trigger.

I bought the PS4 version and waited for reviews, then realized the differences were patchy and not worth the extra cash in my case.

There was a game with a big open world where the PS5 version loaded faster and kept 60fps during busy scenes, but I still worried about whether it would matter on a TV with midrange HDR.

I’ll admit I drifted into frame rate debates for a shooter, then paused and remembered I just want to enjoy the game with friends. In the end I bought whichever was cheaper, and it didn’t ruin the night.
