Should I buy the PS5 version over PS4 if I'm on a 1080p TV for $20 more?

I just got a PS5 and I'm trying to decide which version of a game to buy when it's available on both PS4 and PS5. The PS5 one is obviously more expensive, but I'm not sure if the visual upgrades and haptic feedback are really worth the extra twenty bucks for my specific setup, since I'm still playing on a pretty old 1080p TV.

I grabbed the PS5 version on a 1080p setup and the visual upgrades felt subtle at best. Load times and the controller haptics are nice, but on a 1080p screen you don’t get that wow moment every time. I still bought it, but it wasn’t a slam dunk.

If you’re not chasing the 4k gloss, the cheaper old version is fine. It’s the same game and you won’t miss much without the extra polish.

Maybe the bigger question isn’t the upgrade at all. Could the real problem be your TV choice or how you actually play the game, not the version you buy? It’s tempting to chase hardware, but the day-to-day feel might not change.

I tried convincing myself the upgrades mattered, but I kept thinking about that extra 20 bucks. Eventually I went cheap and saved it, and I still play the same, just with less drama on the menu screens. Not perfect, but practical.
