Should I charge now or delay to finish before morning with overnight rate?

I just got my first EV and I'm trying to figure out how to best use the scheduled charging feature. My utility has a great overnight rate, but I'm not sure if I should set it to start charging immediately when the cheap rate begins, or add a delay so it finishes right before I leave in the morning to keep the battery at a lower state of charge while parked.

I run it to start right after midnight and finish around 5am. It keeps the pack ready for my 7am commute without having it jump to full every night.

I tried adding a delay so it finishes right before I leave, but the car would sometimes re-order the schedule or extend charging anyway, and I ended up with the same SOC in the morning.

Do you know if your model lets you cap the target SOC or cap charging by time? I found that setting a percentage helped me avoid overcharging when the schedule drifts.

One morning I forgot to change it and woke up to a noisy charger and a higher SOC than I wanted; now I check the app before bed and set it again, small habit changes.
