Should I find a duo partner to climb in ranked solo queue?
#1
I've been grinding ranked solo queue for a few seasons now, but I feel like my improvement has completely stalled. Every match just feels like a coin flip on which team gets the less coordinated players, and I can't seem to have a consistent impact myself. Is the only real way to climb out of this to find a dedicated duo partner?

Yeah I hear you. I stuck in a similar rut for a season and felt like every game was a coin flip. I finally tried focusing on one champion I actually enjoyed and tracked a single macro habit per game, like getting a ward on the enemy's collapse or avoiding overreach when ahead. The small wins were real, even if the climb still felt slow.

I did try duo queues for a stretch. It helped with shot calling and tempo, but it also created new pressure when my partner got busy or tilted. It wasn’t a magic fix, it just made the wins feel cleaner and the losses more painful when things went sideways.

Part of my grind anxiety was the loop in my head more than the games. I started journaling mistakes and tried to stop chasing plays when I felt behind, but progress was slow and sometimes the next patch felt like a setback in disguise.

I once wandered off topic with ping excuses and sleep, thinking that was the problem, only to come back to the core: maybe I’m chasing a cure for the wrong thing. Do you think maybe the real issue isn’t the partner but your own decision making in late game calls?
