Should i get a class b license for a straight truck delivery route?

I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth the hassle to get my Class B license for a local delivery route I’ve been offered. The pay is better, but I’m only familiar with driving a cargo van and I’m not sure how steep the learning curve is for a straight truck in daily city traffic.

I’ve done something similar, getting a Class B license for a local route. The pay was nicer, but the first week in city traffic with a straight truck was a wake up call. Parking, wider turns, and the limited rear visibility threw me off at first, but I learned to treat the city like a puzzle and plan every block in advance.

Do you feel like the real hurdle is the extra vehicle itself or the schedule and dispatch hassles that tend to come with it?

I jumped in thinking the bigger pay would solve everything, and the learning curve ended up being steeper than I expected. The turning radius and docking spots in tight alleys were the surprises, and I wasted a couple of days chasing spots I shouldn’t have.

I found that a quick walkthrough of the route before shift changes helped, even if it looked silly. The day to day was more about patient maneuvers and a bit of calm than raw speed. And honestly, some days I felt like I could barely parallel park a moving truck.
