Should I go for CCNP Enterprise now or stay with CCNA longer?

I’m trying to decide if I should pursue the CCNP Enterprise now or just stick with my CCNA for a while longer. My job involves a lot of basic network troubleshooting and configuration, but I’m worried about hitting a ceiling without deeper routing and switching knowledge.

I did CCNA first, then CCNP Enterprise. The extra depth in routing and switching finally clicked for me, and I could handle things beyond basic troubleshooting. It took longer than I hoped and I had to juggle study with work, but it opened up bigger projects and more autonomy on calls.

I’m not sure the bottleneck is the certs. We still had plenty of tickets and a lot of it came down to automation and process, not just knowing routes. I kept chasing practical on the job and paused the cert track for a while.

I tried sprinting to the next cert and it burned a bit. Labs were okay, but real outages were where I learned the most. I kept a notebook of failed BGP tests and the occasional misconfig, and that progress felt slow but real.

Do you have a specific project or role change in mind that would actually benefit from deeper routing and switching, or is the worry about a ceiling more about how your team works today?
