Should I go with dedicated winter tires or all-weather tires for my FWD sedan?

I’m trying to decide between a set of dedicated winter tires or just using a good set of all-weathers for my front-wheel-drive sedan this year. The all-weathers are convenient, but I’m not sure they’ll be enough for the steep, unplowed hill I have to climb to get home after a heavy snow.

I did swap to a full set of winter tires last year on my front drive sedan, and I actually made it up that unplowed hill after a heavy snow while lots of others spun and turned back. The grip felt like a different car on ice and packed snow.

I run all-weather tires on my FWD for the daily grind. They’re fine on flats, but on a steep hill after a big storm they felt squirmy starting from a stop. I backed off and let the car ease up slowly, and it still took patience.

Maybe the real issue isn’t the tires; it’s the hill, the snow depth, or the timing. I’ve tried gentle throttle and creeping, but on that last stretch I still felt the grade win. Is it really the tires, or something else about the setup?

I keep thinking maybe the hill itself is the blocker more than the tires. I did test the all-weather setup on a snowy morning and it wasn’t dramatic, but I wasn’t sure if I should push more.
