Should I pick rogue or wizard for my next campaign?

I just spent way too long trying to decide if my character should be a rogue or a wizard for a new campaign. I keep going back and forth, thinking about the different ways each class would handle the same dungeon puzzle our GM hinted at.

I tried both and the puzzle felt different depending on the path I picture. The rogue path has me chasing hidden levers and shortcuts and the moment shines when I describe a bold trigger. The magic path asks for reading sigils and pausing to plan and it moves at a slower tempo.

This is taking up brain space. I keep flipping back and forth and the worry is that a wrong choice will derail the flow later even if we solve the puzzle now. Maybe the real problem is the puzzle not the class.

I remember a night when I tried to map both sides and ended up guessing in the moment. The group solved a hint by talking through it after the fact, not by the plan I had sketched. It felt like the pace kept slipping and we burned time.

I think the real issue is whether the GM wants the puzzle to reward prep or improvisation. If the puzzle is flexible either path can work. Do you think the problem is the puzzle or the fit of the class to the rest of the party?
