Should I run the robot vacuum at night or adjust daytime automations?
#1
I’ve finally got my smart lights and thermostat on a schedule, but I’m stuck on what to do with my robot vacuum. It cleans while we’re out, but sometimes we’re home and the noise is just disruptive. I’m wondering if I should set it to run only at night, or if there’s a better way to handle its automation.

We set it to run only when we’re out, but on weekends when someone is home it still sounds loud in the living room.

I tried scheduling it for 9 am while I was at work; it finished by early afternoon and the noise didn’t bother me much, which helped.

We turned on zone cleaning for the hallway and kitchen and kept it out of the bedrooms. It cut down interruptions, though I still hear it when it passes the doorway.

Do you think the real problem is the furniture layout and open space rather than the schedule?

Night runs sounded good on paper, but it woke me up once, so we dropped that idea and stayed with daytime when we’re away.

Quiet mode helped a bit, but it slowed down and still felt loud enough to nudge me to pause it sometimes.

Sometimes I start it, then go hide in another room and pretend it’s not there until it finishes, which sounds silly but is easier than negotiating with the dog.
