Should I take the Duke's bargain to unlock future quests, or stay with my build?

I just finished my first playthrough of the new RPG and I'm genuinely torn on whether I should have accepted the Duke's bargain. I got the unique faction armor set from it, which is amazing for my build, but now an entire questline in the capital city is locked off and I'm hearing about characters I never even met. The trade-off feels really significant this time.

I did the deal with the Duke too, snagged that unique armor and felt powerful for a stretch. Then I realized the capital questline was locked and I started worrying about the people I’d never meet. It still felt like a win, but it gnawed at the edges.

I kept the deal and kept playing. The armor carried me through a couple hard fights, but every time I hovered near the capital I could feel what I traded off. It was less about balance and more about a story thread that I’ll never see now.

I looked at saves and considered retrying from before the choice, but I didn’t actually do it. Then I wandered the city at night and started noticing the lamp glow and textures, little details, and the thought of a different route popped in and out. Still I kept pushing, hoping there’d be a bypass later, or maybe I’d shift how I use the armor.

Do you think the real problem is the missing questline, or is it that you wanted a payoff from those unseen characters and now you’re chasing a thread that may not matter as much in practice?
