Should I upgrade my sportbike suspension or save for a newer model?

I’m trying to decide if I should upgrade the suspension on my old sportbike or just save for a newer model. The front end feels vague and wallowy when I’m pushing it on my favorite backroad, especially over mid-corner bumps, and I’m not sure if throwing cartridge emulators and a new shock at it is a smart fix or a money pit.

I did the emulator swap and slapped on a used shock on my older sportbike. It felt more settled in the backroads for a few miles, but over mid corner bumps the front still wandered and felt vague. It helped a bit, not a cure.

I rode it for a couple of months with that setup and kept fiddling preload, rebound, and tire pressures. The improvements were tiny and it started to feel like a money pit.

Is it possible the real problem isn’t the fork at all but the tires or rider position?

One afternoon I wandered into a tangent about fork seal squeaks and spent a weekend chasing the noise, but the detour reminded me how easy it is to lose momentum and then still not fix the front end.
