Should i watch the Oscars live or just catch the highlights?

I’m trying to decide if I should watch the Oscars live this year or just catch the highlights. I’ve done both in the past, and I’m never sure if staying up for the whole marathon broadcast is actually worth it for the genuine red carpet moments and the spontaneous speeches, or if I just end up exhausted and miss the best parts anyway.

Tried the full live broadcast once. The red carpet buzz was real, and a few spontaneous lines did land; but I woke up the next day groggy and I think I missed the parts I actually cared about.

I usually go for highlights after, best to skip the long intros, and I pause on winners I want to hear more about; it saves energy and I still get the parts that matter.

Sometimes I wonder if the problem isn’t the show itself but late-night fatigue and the way everything drags on; I drift to scrolling on my phone while it’s on, then remind myself I wanted the speeches; maybe the real issue is timing, not the format.

I did the sleep-debt math once and it didn’t add up; I stayed up, caught a few moments, and slept through the rest; now I’m leaning to highlights, though I miss some live energy.
