Should my smartwatch keep nudging me and make me doubt my body's rest signals?
#1
I’ve noticed my smartwatch constantly nudging me to stand up or take a breath, and it’s starting to make me feel like I can’t trust my own sense of when I need a break. This constant external prompting is making me wonder if I’m losing the ability to listen to my body’s own signals for rest and focus.

I get the feeling. The nudges started to feel like a chorus in my head. I ended up muting most reminders during focus blocks and kept a couple of less aggressive cues at a lower volume. It was weird at first, but I noticed I could trust my own signals again sometimes.

I kept a tiny log for a week: when I felt tired, when I stood, and what I did after the nudge. Often I found I was about to adjust anyway, but sometimes I sprung too soon or too late.

Do you think the problem is the prompts or that you’re losing touch with your own rhythm? Maybe the device just makes the issue louder instead of fixing it.

I tried a week with the prompts off except for occasional breathing prompts. It felt freeing, and I learned to notice my breath without the screen, but I did slip back into autopilot a couple of days.
