Should this medication be taken with food or on an empty stomach?

I’ve been prescribed a new medication and the leaflet says to take it with food to avoid stomach upset, but my doctor mentioned it might absorb better on an empty stomach. I’m not sure which instruction to follow for the best therapeutic effect.

I’d follow the leaflet, especially if it says with food. If your doctor has a different instruction, a quick call to them or the pharmacist can clear it up—there might be a reason for the exception.

I tried taking it with a small meal and the stomach upset was much better, but it seemed to absorb more slowly.

Maybe the real problem isn't the stomach at all but whether this med is actually the right choice for you right now?

I asked the pharmacist and they suggested sticking with one guideline and watching how you feel, since everyone reacts differently.
