What’s causing snap layout lag after the Windows 11 update?
#1
I’ve been trying to get my head around the new Windows 11 23H2 update, specifically the way it handles window management with snap layouts. I set up a three-column layout for my work, but every time I drag a window to a snap zone, it feels like there’s a slight delay before the layout preview appears, and sometimes it doesn’t register at all. Has anyone else noticed this kind of inconsistent behavior since updating?

Yeah I’ve seen that since the 23H2 update. There’s a noticeable lag when I drag a window to a snap zone and sometimes the preview doesn’t appear at all.

I did a few things: updated my GPU driver, rebooted the PC, and toggled the feature off and back on in the settings. It helped a little, but the issue isn’t consistent.

I wonder if it’s tied to my display setup. I’ve got a high DPI monitor and a second screen, and the preview sometimes misaligns or stalls when moving windows across monitors. Has anyone seen that?

Not sure this is the real problem, maybe a Windows bug or something else. I’ve started using keyboard snapping and skipping the drag when it acts up.
