What’s causing the surge in searches for how to repair clothes?
#1
I was looking at the latest Google Search Trends report and noticed a huge spike in people looking up "how to repair clothes" instead of just buying new ones. It got me thinking, is this just a weird data blip or are more of us actually trying to fix things ourselves now?

I tried mending a denim jacket I scored cheap at a thrift store. I bought a basic sewing kit, watched a fifteen minute tutorial, and stitched a patch onto the elbow. It held through a couple of wears, but the stitches looked rough and I kept thinking it would fail next wash. Still, it felt doable, like a low stakes win that makes you want to try again instead of tossing it.

Could be a blip or a season thing. School season, people tightening belts, or a viral DIY post nudged curiosity. Data can bounce around when lots of people search the same phrase after seeing a video.

Is the real problem that we do not value repair or that the stuff we buy is not built to last It feels like a bigger question that sits under a simple urge to fix Something broken in the kit or in the mindset may be the real blocker

I saw a note about this in a Google Search Trends update and my first thought was noise Big spikes can be algorithmic or tied to one influencer or article Hard to tell if people are actually fixing more at home or just click searching because it is easy to learn now
