What’s the best air spring setup for a Ram 3500 dually towing a 16k fifth wheel?

I’m trying to decide if it’s worth upgrading the suspension on my 2016 Ram 3500 dually. I regularly tow a 16,000 lb fifth wheel, and while the truck handles it, the rear end feels pretty unsettled on rough back roads and the front gets a bit floaty when empty. I’ve been looking at a supplemental air spring system to help level the load and improve ride quality.

I put in a set of air helper bags on my Ram 3500 when I started towing a heavy 5th wheel. It leveled the rear and kept the squat down, which made the ride feel calmer on pavement. On rough back roads it still gets unsettled when the bumps land, and you end up dialing in air pressure for the load, but it helped overall.

I’ve tried upgrading shocks and even thicker springs, but the gains were marginal for towing that kind of weight. The front still feels a little floaty empty, and with the pin weight up, the steering doesn’t feel pinned down. If you’re after a single fix, I don’t think that’s it.

Do you think the real issue might be something else like tire pressures or a worn bushing?

I finally decided to hold off on the suspension swap. I fiddled with tire pressures and used a weight distribution hitch, and it helped a bit, but the truck is still big and heavy, and I’m not sure the upgrade would pay off for the miles I actually drive.
