What’s the best way to fix dry spots when spraying a wooden cabinet?
#1
I’ve been trying to get a clean, even coat with my spray gun on a large wooden cabinet, but I keep getting these annoying dry spots and a rough texture. I’m following the can’s instructions for thinning and distance, so I’m wondering if the humidity in my garage is throwing things off.

I ran into that on a big cabinet too. dry patches and a rough feel where the finish dried in patches. I blamed the humidity in the garage, but it might've been the solvent flash or the temp.

Tried a scrap panel test, tightened the spray pattern a bit, and did shorter passes with a lighter mist. It shaved off some of the dryness but not all.

Do you have a hygrometer in the shop to measure humidity?

I sometimes think the real culprit is the surface prep or the wood soaking more than expected. When I pushed through, I still saw variations.
