What’s the best way to introduce yourself in a new city forum?
#1
I just moved to a new city and joined this forum hoping to meet some people, but I'm honestly not sure how to jump in. Do you usually start by posting in a few different threads, or is it better to just introduce yourself here first and see who says hello?

I moved last year and did the intro thing first. It felt fine to say hi, then I checked a couple of threads about neighborhoods and coffee spots and chimed in there. People replied more once they saw I was around.

I tried jumping in by commenting in a few threads I actually care about, like hiking routes and brunch spots. It helped a bit, but most replies came from people who already knew the city.

Honestly I hesitated a lot. I posted an intro and just waited, then forgot to check back. When I logged in again there were a few new messages, but it can be slow and unpredictable.

I once drifted into a thread about the city’s best walking routes, talked about a dog I don’t own for a minute, then realized I was actually replying to other newbies like me. It felt oddly natural to follow curiosity instead of forcing an intro. Do you want to try a meetup or just online for now?
